Recently, I had the pleasure of joining a podcast hosted by my ex-colleague Vlad Kampov and his present colleague Vlad Sydorenko, where we engaged in a friendly and open conversation about the role of a Solutions Architect.
In this episode, we touched upon many topics, starting with how I’ve always been interested in computers since I was a kid. We talked about my time at university from 2003 to 2008, discussing both the good and the tough parts. I shared how I started as a Java developer early in my university years. We also went into my career choices, especially the decision between becoming a manager or a software architect. The conversation included my experiences in IT service companies, handling multiple projects, doing pre-sales, and striving to being a Trusted Advisor for my clients. We emphasized how important it is for an Architect to have good soft skills, starting from basic things like listening, writing, and drowing, and following to more complex skills like negotiating, documenting decisions, and handling many tasks at once.
